Wichita Holiday Jobs 2026: Who's Hiring Seasonal Workers and How to Get In
WICHITA, KS — The holiday hiring window is open in Wichita, but it is narrower than it used to be. A few national employers have posted big seasonal numbers for 2026, others are staying quiet, and the jobs that open along Rock Road and out by the North Broadway warehouses go to people who apply in October, not December.
Here is who has actually announced 2026 seasonal hiring, who hasn't, and how a Wichita job seeker can get in before the rush.

💼 Who Has Announced 2026 Holiday Hiring
Three national employers have put real numbers on the table this fall.
- UPS: more than 100,000 seasonal workers nationwide, announced October 7. UPS says many applicants get an offer in under seven minutes and describes seasonal work as a possible path to a permanent job. Apply through UPS Jobs.
- Dick's Sporting Goods and Foot Locker: more than 11,000 seasonal teammates combined, about 8,400 at Dick's-family stores and 2,900 across Foot Locker banners. Hiring continues until positions are filled. Apply at Dick's careers or Foot Locker careers.
- Michaels: more than 10,000 seasonal team members across the U.S. and Canada. The craft chain says nearly half of last year's seasonal in-store hires converted to regular roles. Apply at Michaels careers.
None of these companies has published a Wichita-specific headcount, so search each careers site with Wichita as the location to see which nearby stores and facilities are posting.
Who Is Staying Quiet This Year
Amazon, Target and Kohl's had not disclosed 2026 seasonal headcounts as of mid-October, and Walmart hires store by store without a national goal. That matters here because Amazon runs a large fulfillment center on North Broadway in Park City, just north of the city line off I-135. No 2026 seasonal number has been announced for it, so watch Amazon's hiring site for postings rather than counting on a big seasonal push.
Outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas reports that retailers added 461,500 jobs in the fourth quarter of 2025, the smallest holiday gain since 2008, and projects about 450,000 for 2026. Transportation and warehousing added 266,500 positions last holiday season, the lowest fourth quarter since 2018, with a similar total expected this year.
