A 45-job opening gets a sign in the window and a listing that sits up for a week. The second kind is where most people actually get hired.

The Big Biscuit Is Building a Four-Restaurant Wichita Footprint

The Kansas City breakfast chain opened its first Wichita restaurant at 106 S. Hydraulic Ave. on June 2, the first of four under a corporate agreement for the metro. Two of the remaining three are already sited: 7777 E. 21st St. N in northeast Wichita, and 1906 N. Rock Road in Derby, both slated for later this year. No opening date or headcount has been published for either, so treat them as jobs to watch for, not jobs to apply for today.

One detail makes them worth watching. The Big Biscuit runs 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily, then closes. No dinner rush, no midnight close, no shifts past bar time. In an industry where the schedule is usually why people quit, a restaurant job that ends by mid-afternoon is a different product. The backfill, 2 to 8 weeks after opening. Every new restaurant loses people in month one. Almost no advertising, easiest to walk into.
